5 things you may not know about the Lucent team

We always find putting a face to the name makes a big difference when it comes to working with others.

To help you get to know the Lucent team, we've assembled five things you may not know about us.

Katherine’s roots in the charity world run deep. Her mum ran a charity in Kent. Money was tight for the organisation and she remembers being roped into redecorating the offices as a teenager.

Having spent some time lecturing at the LSE, Katherine was delighted to return to the charity sector when she became Chief Executive of the Fawcett Society in 2001.

She has stayed in the not-for-profit world ever since.

Charlotte grew up in a council tower block in East London. This experience has driven her interest in policy and social justice issues, from child poverty to clean air to building regulations.

Her early civil service career was an education in how government works – particularly working in private office.

Now she enjoys working with charities to clarify their policy objectives and consider the best strategies for pursuing them.

Andrea's journey in social impact began as a school student representative where he spent countless hours organising strikes and campaigns, learning the art of advocacy from the ground up.

Andrea made the bold decision to leave his home town, a tiny village in the Italian Dolomites, for London.

What started as a young idealist's hope to hone his skills led to extraordinary opportunities - including a meeting with Pope Francis!

A formative moment for Lakshmi was setting up a phone and web-based health information system to support the Government of Rwanda’s nascent HIV/AIDS response.

This involved navigating between different Rwandan ministries and departments, US government donors, local phone companies and a whole host of other experts and organisations.

This really honed her diplomatic and problem-solving skills!

Katy’s career started at Deloitte, where she provided audit and assurance to publicly-listed organisations.

From here, she moved into account and project management roles.

Katy’s interest in the social sector began during her school years, where she was elected member of the UK Youth Parliament – a role that involved campaigning and working with her local County Council and charities.
