Before you fully launch into a new initiative or programme you will want to test the water.

Lucent can help by undertaking rapid research into the area or field you are interested in, undertaking options analysis and feasibility studies. We can test early ideas with stakeholders through surveys, interviews, focus groups or workshops in a way that secures their candid feedback. We can help you develop pilots and advise on the best governance arrangements to support your fledgling projects.

Our package of tailored support will help you test your ideas about a new piece of work or programme so that, if and when you move to implementation, you are aware of the opportunities and risks ahead and have chosen the best model for success.

Not sure where to start? It all starts with a conversation.

For organisations:

who want to test the feasibility of new projects or initiatives before committing substantial resource.

Lucent’s job is to:

help you rapidly test your early thinking about a new project or idea, and engage a range of stakeholders to ensure that it has gained input and ownership from the start.

You get:

many years of organisational experience to help you turn your idea into a considered proposition.

Here’s how we can support your idea.

Inception

We start by understanding the genesis of this idea so far. What has brought you to this point? Who has been involved to date? What similar work are you aware of locally, nationally or internationally?

With this information in hand, we make sure to build on the work you have done to date as we take the next step.

Rapid research

We undertake rapid research into the field, potential partners and competitors through desk-based research, events or interviews. We share this with you in a concise, digestible format.

Options analysis or feasibility studies

We undertake options analysis, looking at the opportunities, challenges, operational and financial implications of each option. If one option is emerging as a favourite, we can undertake a more detailed feasibility study to help support your planning.

A critical part of this process is engaging stakeholders to test their views and priorities and we will find the best mechanism to do so – be that focus groups, workshops, surveys or interviews.

Next steps

We will leave you with a report of our work including proposed next steps.

This could include more detailed recommendations about, for example, how you might govern this initiative or specifications for the expert support you might need to bring on board in the next stage of this process.

Throughout the guided process, you’ll get:

  • We will keep in close contact with you through the process, and will test emerging thinking and early feedback with you. We share our insights with you regularly and build your connections to others in the field undertaking similar work.

  • It is easy to succumb to optimism bias when developing new ideas, with the result that an initial rush of enthusiasm wanes as soon as reality strikes. Our job is to provide balanced and wise counsel, sharing your vision but keeping pragmatic and focussed throughout.

  • We have model terms of reference and frameworks for joint vision statements to take the pain out of the first stages of any new piece of work. This means that you can focus on the work that adds most value, including building a coalition of support around your new initiative.
