Celebrating our growing community of changemakers
Lucent has reached its first birthday! And what a year it has been - we have been fortunate to work with clients who share a focus on addressing the big social challenges that lie ahead.
When we launched a year ago we could not have imagined what 2020 might have in store for us. The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken us all. The commitment, resourcefulness and creativity of everyone working for change is what makes this sector so special. We’ve been proud to work with a growing community of changemakers who are stepping up their response in an uncertain world. And we’ve been inspired by stories shared at our weekly Changemakers Campfire of how they have been working through the crisis to serve their beneficiaries.
Our clients straddle the social, science and philanthropic sectors. We’ve worked with some of the country’s largest trusts and foundations as well as smaller grassroots organisations to help them sharpen their focus and translate their bold ambitions into achievable plans.
Here’s a glimpse into our work:
Wellcome Trust
The Wellcome Trust is at the forefront of campaigning for better science, tackling big health challenges, and ensuring that everyone can get involved with science and health research. Lucent has been working with the Trust to make diversity and inclusion central to its work. This work is even more pressing with Covid-19 having a disproportionate impact on BAME communities and Black Lives Matter shining a light on issues of race and injustice,
Church Urban Fund
Through its far-reaching network of local parishes, and alongside other faith-based and secular organisations, the Church Urban Fund aims to bring about positive change in neighbourhoods. Now we are facing the biggest public health crisis of a generation, the Fund has drawn on its work with Lucent to help address the issues of greatest need in local communities.
Campaign to End Loneliness
The pandemic has demonstrated that loneliness and social isolation can affect everyone of any age. Lucent has been working with the Campaign to End Loneliness to develop a clear sense of their own unique position and work alongside trustees and staff to drive forward a new long-term strategy.
